Store your brake bar rack in this handy pouch to keep bars together and minimize the jingle factor when not in use. The PMI Bar-Tender fits any size rack, with or without a hyper bar.
Auxiliary brake for mechanical Prusik on single ropes, for tree care.
The CHICANE auxiliary braking device allows ZIGZAG and ZIGZAG PLUS mechanical Prusiks to be used on single ropes. It provides continuous additional friction on descents. The excellent compatibility of the CHICANE and mechanical Prusik as an assembled unit ensures smooth rope glide through the brake during ascents. The ergonomic handle provides excellent grip and facilitates movement while limb walking. Thanks to the openable side plate, installation is quick and easy.
The Quantum fall arrest device is a new product that is suitable for a two person rescue. This self-trailing rope grab is designed to move on the rope easily. A unique cam (patent pending) actually grips the rope in two places and is designed to not damage the sheath of the rope while providing minimum slippage during an arrest.
Larger version of the popular Rescue 8 with ears. Made for ropes up to 5/8 (16 mm).
Type #304 stainless steel construction, with a welded eye for extra strength. Each eye weld is inspected for dye penetration before shipping. Average tensile of material used is over 10,000 lbf.
Machined from12.5-mm (1/2-inch) plate, our classic Rescue 8 design has been refined for even better performance with todays selection of life safety rope. Descenders no longer routinely use 16-mm (5/8-in) rope, so the smaller dimensions of our Rescue 8 provide greater control. The proprietary black finish on the aluminum model provides outstanding wear resistance, while the nickel-chrome-plated steel model excels in high-wear situations, such as sandy, gritty environments. The extended carabiner hole accommodates multiple carabiners.
* Certified range of rope diameters and CMCs recommendation for best performance.
About CMCs Super Black Finish
The CMC 3D, Rescue Rack, Rappel 8, and Rescue 8 products feature an exceptionally long-wear proprietary finish because typical hard or soft anodizing on aluminum descenders eventually wears through. This finish also prevents transfer of material onto the rope, common with bare aluminum components. After years of heavy use, our products and test samples with this Super Black Finish continue to be used in CMC School classes without showing any indication of the finish wearing through.
Rescue Industry Applications
The Rescue 8 descender is a type of descent devicecommonly referred towithin the technical rescue industry as afigure eight descender and isusedfor rappelling anddescent maneuvers in the field in search and rescue (SAR), urban search & rescue (USAR) and has solution applications for fire rescue and industrial rope access.
CMC’s Rescue Rack offers several innovative features to provide enhanced performance. The large diameter aluminum bars provide excellent control for rescue loads. These bars are center drilled to reduce weight and allow for better heat dissipation. The proprietary black finish also prevents transfer of material to the rope, common with bare aluminum bars. The Turbo Bar at the top has a tie-off pin on the side. The second bar has a straight slot to help warn the user of a mis-rigged rack. Since the top two bars do most of the work, they are a full one inch in diameter. The next four angled slot bars are 7/8-inch diameter. The stainless steel frame has a welded eye. Comes assembled, ready for use.

SMC‚ Compact U Rack has many advantages over other small U racks beyond SMC‚ quality manufacturing. The ingenious design prevents the bars from sliding around the bottom of the rack. The standard rack width allows it to be rigged on two ropes. The upper and lower tie off bars provide a greater variability of friction and secure tie off.
The NFPA rack is sold as a complete un-assembled kit so you can arrange it for right-hand or left-hand use. SMC has also added a 17.9 long rack to complete the line.
The SMC Micro U-Rack assembly is the smallest and lightest of all SMC Rappel Racks. The design is based on the same principles of our proven NFPA Rappel Racks but more suited for sport climbing and caving expeditions. This device is ideal for either a long rappel or lowering as it evenly distributes the weight between both sides of the rack and does not allow the rope to twist.
Easy to rig and handle when wearing gloves, this descender has smooth action on belay or rappel. Works well with either single or double ropes from 8 mm to 12.5 mm. Additional friction is gained by increasing the number of wraps.
When easy application and removal of an escape descender is desired, the SMC Escape 8 is a convenient choice. Familiar figure 8 shape is modified and optimized for descending on small diameter ropes.
